Bridgeport Village New Stores for Fall 2026: What's Opening

"We'll be hosting cooking classes and events from day one, so come say hello and get hands-on in the kitchen with us." Kristin Flor Perret, Sur La Table's head of marketing, said that to WhatNow Portland in September about the company's new store at Bridgeport Village.

The words "come back" carry real history at this center. In July 2020, Sur La Table filed for bankruptcy and said it would close 56 of its 121 stores nationwide, including its Bridgeport Village and Lake Oswego locations. Its last Oregon store, on Northwest Couch Street in the Pearl District, closed at the end of September that year, as The Oregonian reported. Six years later, the company is reopening at the same center it left, built around a cooking school this time.

That detail matters because most of the other fall arrivals follow the same pattern. Most of the stores opening at Bridgeport this season sell some kind of help as well as goods: a class to sign up for, a designer to sit down with, an event on a set date. The new reason to come here is a calendar of appointments, not the shelves.

A Store That Opens in Three Stages

Most stores have one opening day. According to WhatNow, Sur La Table has three.

  1. Soft opening, Oct. 14 and 15. The retail floor opens first.
  2. Culinary Center opening, Oct. 21. This is the teaching kitchen.
  3. Grand opening celebration, Oct. 24.

Perret said the phased approach lets the company make sure every part of the store, "from the retail floor to its cooking classes," is ready before it fully opens. She described the brand as a resource more than a store, with hands-on classes taught by real instructors and associates "trained in the craft rather than simply the SKU."

The classes are already on the books. Sur La Table's site lists a two-hour, hands-on Savoring Spain class at this location on Wednesday, Nov. 4, for $89 per guest. A Date Night: The Dim Sum Table class is set for Friday, Nov. 13, at $99. Both pages show seat availability and a booking button. The store's own pages still say "Opening Fall 2026," but the class schedule is clearly further along than that wording suggests.

The Furniture Stores Lead With Design Help

The same approach shows up across the home stores that have signed on around Sur La Table. Bridgeport's Sept. 17 announcement called 2026 "a landmark year" for leasing and listed eight fall openings, four of them in home furnishings or kitchenware. Here's where each one stood as of Sept. 30:

Store Status What comes with it
Herman Miller Opened Sept. 25; its first Oregon store Free design services
Design Within Reach Opened Sept. 25, next to Herman Miller Free design services, in-home consultations, 3D room renderings
City Home Grand opening Oct. 8 Curated furniture and décor plus design services
Sur La Table Phased opening Oct. 14 to 24 In-store cooking school
Arhaus Under construction, no date announced Designer help and 3D room planning
Crate & Barrel Open since 2004 Registry events in October

Herman Miller and Design Within Reach are both owned by MillerKnoll and opened side by side. Tigard Today reported that both offer space planning, material samples and personalized guidance at no charge. MillerKnoll said the interiors use reclaimed Douglas fir sourced locally, along with other recycled materials. Design Within Reach already has a store in the Pearl District, so Bridgeport is its second in the Portland metro.

City Home is the local name in the group. The Portland-based furniture and interior design company runs a showroom at 1101 SE 3rd Ave. and an outlet at 217 SE Taylor St. Its site also lists showrooms in Bend, Cedar Hills, Lake Oswego and Vancouver. Bridgeport's announcement says City Home will pair furniture, décor and one-of-a-kind pieces with design services. Its opening date has moved. Tigard Today first reported Oct. 1, but City Home's own page now says "Coming October 8th, 2026" and invites shoppers to a grand opening that day.

Arhaus is the one to watch for. WhatNow describes a design-studio format with artisan-sourced sofas, dining and bedroom furniture, lighting and outdoor pieces, plus designer help and 3D room planning. As of Sept. 30, Bridgeport's own page for the store still says "Under Construction."

These stores join neighbors that already sell home goods here. Crate & Barrel's two-story store first opened in 2004. The Container Store sells home-organization products and services. The 7 Dees plant shop has moved to a new spot beside the Village Green. The center's announcement itself mentions "the center's growing selection of design-focused home furnishings."

The Food Additions Are Smaller

The food side of the lineup is lighter. Mikiko Mochi Donuts, known for gluten- and dairy-free mochi donuts, and Miss Hannah's Gourmet Popcorn, a family-run, small-batch popcorn maker from Newberg, both show as "Now Open" in the center's directory. The Oregonian reported that Mikiko already has shops in Portland, Beaverton and at Portland International Airport, and that Miss Hannah's opened here in early September.

The larger dining addition came earlier in the year. Fogo de Chão, the Brazilian churrasco restaurant, opened at 17015 SW 72nd Ave. on Feb. 9, 2026. It serves lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, plus group dining and catering. A Sur La Table class and a dinner nearby now fit into the same evening.

October, Laid Out

Since so much of the new lineup runs on dates, it helps to see them together. The table below puts Bridgeport's October schedule next to Tigard's own fall events, which happen across town at Cook Family Park, the John Tigard House, Potso Dog Park and Universal Plaza.

Date Where What

Sun., Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Universal Plaza, 9100 Burnham St. Last Tigard Farmers Market of the season

Oct. 24 is the busiest day on the list. Sur La Table's grand opening falls on the same Saturday as Howl O'Ween, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The next day, the farmers market closes for the season. It meets at Universal Plaza, 9100 Burnham Street. Bridgeport's live calendar also lists "Sounds of the Season" from Nov. 23 to Dec. 24. As of Sept. 30, it showed no holiday tree-lighting date.

Details to Check Before You Go

A few things were still unsettled at the end of September:

  • Hours. Tigard Today reported that store hours for Herman Miller and Design Within Reach had not been announced.
  • Addresses. Sources list different street numbers for the new stores. Tigard Today gives 7301 SW Bridgeport Road for Herman Miller and Design Within Reach, and WhatNow uses the same number for Sur La Table. The center's directory is the most reliable way to find a storefront.
  • Which city. Bridgeport's press releases carry a Tualatin dateline, while local outlets place the center in Tigard. The Oregonian calls it "the Tigard-Tualatin mall."
  • Class seats. The November Sur La Table classes showed availability when checked. Since they are hands-on, groups are likely small, so book early if a date matters to you.
  • Arhaus. No opening day has been announced. Fall 2026 is the only timing given so far.

You won't find Pottery Barn or Williams Sonoma in Bridgeport's directory. Their Portland-area store pages point to Washington Square and the Brewery Blocks. That leaves Sur La Table and Crate & Barrel as the center's two kitchenware stores.

If one of those design consultations has you thinking about a kitchen remodel or a room you've been meaning to fix, I'm happy to talk through which projects tend to add value in Tigard and connect you with contractors I trust. You can reach me through Henry Liu any time. Let's Connect.
